removing old paint from a miniature?

I have some old Ral Partha and Grenadier mini's from back in the 80's
that I painted with Testors and Pactra enamel paints. Since I have
recently started to paint mini's again ( this time the correct way with
acryllics.) I was wondering if anyone out there knows a good way to
remove the old paint so that I could try and repaint them nicely this
time.
I once read that oven cleaner works, but I don't remember if there's a
certain brand, or what amount of time to soak them in it.
If anyone out there has any advice, I would sure appreciate it.

Thank you.

Have a look at <http://www.rgmw.org/paint/paint-strip.html>, however if
you're in the US try Castrol Super Clean as well. Someone is sure to post
recomending Brake Fluid. Please ignore them. It's both bad for you and
hard to dispose of safely.

Hope that helps.

I'm pretty happy with the results I get from Simple Green. It is
non-toxic, pleasant smelling, and effective. Just let your figures soak
for a couple of days and then lightly scrub with an old toothbrush.
