Question Removing RAM eliminates BSOD

LG Gram 15Z980 w/ 8gb integrated ram and 1 ram slot for adding more. Had 16gb in the slot and kept getting frequent bsod. Bought & installed a new 16gb stick, same thing, frequent bsod. Removed the 16gb stick, no more bsod. RAM socket has no signs damage. Is this a bios issue?

New RAM has to be 100% compatible with soldered one. Cab you find QVL for your laptop ?

I ran the scan twice, same result. Also checked the specs on LG Website... LG specs say the pc has "16gb ram (2x8 ddr4 2400). I bought this as a used (not working) pc on Ebay, with no M2 drive, but it came with a 16gb stick of ram installed. Not sure now if this can handle a 16gb stick.
