Removing the top of Akasa's Venom Voodoo Cooler

Hello!

So the problem I have is that I cannot put my side panel on as the heat sink is too big. (yeah I didn't check the measures before I bought it :/) It almost fits, only a mm or two needed for it to fit.
The cooler looks like this

Taking the top off would make the side panel fit, so the question is, is the top of heat sink only decorative and I can remove it, or would removing the top ruin it.

The other option is to cut the side panel to make a plexiglass window, however I have no idea on how to make the window "out" a bit, so that I would actually gain those precious millimeters.

Any idea will be appreciated, thank you in advance

The top panel appears to be decorative.

agreed, doesn't look to be functional, may just cover the heatpipe tips, doesn't look to hold anything together.

Thank you so much, just did it, even managed to get it off in a way that allows me to put it back on if I for some reason want to.
