Render Farm help. I am looking to build a complete solution for rendering on a tight budget. However this is going to be for professional use no games played. Im going between i7 (4770k), AMD FX 8350, if anyone has any input on moderately priced efficient Xeons or Optrons that would be good to :). However my main concern is the GPU I keep going between a few cards Nvidia 660ti, Nvidia Quadros (lower priced $100-300) ATI R9 280x and Firepro cards (V3900-V4900). Now Im looking for quantity with good quality as opposed to just higher cost quality. The software i use is Unity, Max, Maya, and Zbrush. I would like to rule out team green if at all possible because CUDA cores have more of a impact on Adobe based products than 3D software, at least according to my research. Im looking for 5 nodes carrying 3-4 cards each. Whats your take people let me know what you think.

I personally go with the FX 8350 - it does better then a i7 in multi-threaded tasks, though if you can afford a dual socket with two AMD Opteron 8 Cores, that would be even better.

Thanks a lot you guys that was helpful. DCommander do you really think the fx 8350 is faster in multi threaded work? I would have figured that the 4770k would win that one by being hyper-threaded. That virtual highway really does work magic from what i seen but im still going with amd for price. Im also going to look at some Opterons see what i can find. Any imput on external renderers for ati cards?

i m still behind in line kasper92 bro i have build my self pc for same purpose rendering and gaming too i have build fx8150 and with gtx 570 and 12 gb ram but it dosent play its role in rendering purpose since i have been using 3ds max and maya too my 3ds max lagg after 500,000 polygons so and friend have an i7 3700k and it still deep going with 1000,000 polygons it also have quodro 600k nvidia if i were u iwould definitely go with i7 3770k and a good nvidia quodro 600k gpu with g skill ripjaws ram about 8 gb which have 1600 mhz clock rate it will be a great build with it believe me bro intel is great in rendering purpose NOTE amd cpu like fx 8350 heats when in time of rendering intel cpu have good temp when rendering
a good cooler like h100 or h80 will do a great temp and can be oced the i7 4770k since at performance amd lags a lot in 3ds app that s it hope u will have a great satisfaction with my experience u should go with that build i placed in description thanks
