Hello,

I need some help putting together a good new build. I'll be using this computer mostly for various rendering related things and some casual gaming. The budget is €1600 or $2100 for the hardware, no peripherals or software required.

Some of the programs i use do support OpenGL/GPU accelerated rendering. But the processor would be the most important for performance. Unfortunatelly some of the programs i use are not super efficient and have (render intensive) layers which can only run on one thread, which creates choking points, so i would benefit more from high clockspeed per core rather then more cores. I was thinking a i7-4790k would be good, overclocked, though i have never overclocked anything and am a bit weary of any risk it might be to the hardware (please advise). (if you do advise to overclock this should be factored in in terms of hardware, additional cooling?)

Other than that, i do without a shadow of a doubt need 32GB RAM atleast and want to have the option to upgrade it to 64GB of RAM. Lastly i need a lot of disk space, i'm thinking about 4TB and an SSD booting and program files. The write speed of the disks should be high-ish, incase i need to record some 1080p video footage.

I do game a bit aswell, but very casually.

Stretch goal: Make the system run pretty silent. My current system makes quite a bit of noise, and wood surfaces around it makes pretty much for a resonating chamber, i'd be preferable to have quite a silent system. But not at the expense of performance.

Please use UK or DE pcpartpicker.

I would be very interested to hear what you advise to me. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
