Rendering - Intel Xeon E3-1231v3 vs Intel core i7 4790

I'm an amateur 3D artist who render in a software like Poser or daz3D. In the future, I want to make 3D art in 3DSMax and Cinema 4D,
Wich CPU is better for me when I want to focus mostly on rendering and just want to play some PC games like GTA V or similar? (I included a GTX970 GPU in my build)

In this case you want to compare the frequency difference, higher is better and whether or not you need QuickSync.

they are very similar, but I would go for the xeon, just because it's cheaper.
