[SOLVED] Rendering Server

Hi Guys,

My company needs to buy a Rendering Server and our budget is INR 600,000.

We use 3ds Max with Vray along with Autocad and Photoshop. Currently we are doing CPU based rendering.
We are looking for around 16 cores processor keeping in mind the individual core speed. I think the base core should be 4GHz but it may vary as per the architecture of the processor I suppose.
Storage of 10TB(Should I go for RAID?)
128GB RAM
I am a bit confused about the GPU as we are not doing GPU rendering for final render.

We will be connecting 8 PCs to the server.

I don't see any option for 16 cores with a 4Ghz base clock from Intel. There are some options with boost clock to 4Ghz but nothing with base at 4 without overclocking.

Should we go with XEON?
One of the IT people is suggesting to go with two Xeon Gold series processor(3.2GHz) with 12 cores.
According to him the speed of processor is comparable to current CPUs because of its architecture.

I would guess that the costs of E5-2xxx V4 CPUs would be cheaper than the newer Xeons. To get the highest clock speed, two 8 core E5-2667 V4 CPUs. Then 8 DIMMs (4 per CPU) . Dual socket motherboards require Windows PRO or Server. Asus motherboards like Z10PE motherboards have standard plugs for power and front panel. Stick with something like that.
