repair cd boot

dell dimension 5150, keeps saying floppy diskette failure. trying to load xp repair disc, going round in circles. what do i do? tried safe mode ,just goes back to f1 to continue, f2 for setup. changed boot order, cannot remove diskett but disabled, just goes back to top of boot order. is hard drive broke? lots of photos etc. cheers

I was having a similar problem with an old computer weeks ago... It would not boot from the HD, or the Optical drive... I have several Optical Drives and HDs and none would boot.. didn't try with a floppy cause it wouldn't have helped but the point is it's probably the same cause... I configured the BIOS to failproof settings and problem solved... I had tried resetting the BIOS and that didn't help... but failproof settings did. Do this, and restart the computer so the failproof settings will be applied and saved, log again in the BIOS and change the boot order. Hope it works for you.
