I bought an MSI A6200 Laptop with Windows 7 about 4 years ago. It crashed on me about a year and a half ago and rather than try to repair, I removed the hard drive and made it an external drive on a Dell Inspiron laptop I have. I have been able to access all pertinent files on the drive, so I never got around to actually repairing the MSI Hard Drive.
The Dell Insprion has worked well enough, but over the last 6 months has begun to slow down and is typically painfully slow at startup. I also have been wanting something with touch screen capability, so I bought a new Acer laptop with Windows 8, later upgraded to 8.1.
Last night I connected the MSI hard drive as an external drive again and this morning when I started up my Acer, it indicated it was repairing Disk D: (the MSI Hard Drive). It was taking some time, so I let it run and went to get a cup of coffee at Starbucks. When I got back, my Acer had completed startup and I logged on, but there was no indication as to completion or incompletion of repairs of Disk D:.
My question is: How do I determine if and/or what repairs were done to the MSI Drive (Disk D
. Where is the log or status report for the repairs that were done? It also leads to a couple of other question: Is it possible the MSI Drive is now functioning and can I reinstall it in the laptop shell and will it now run the old OS? How can I determine?
