So as Toms Hardware reported, Apple is repairing the early 2011 macbook pros with discrete GPU failures (http://www.tomshardware.com/news/apple-repairs-overheating-macbook-pros,28603.html). My early 2011 macbook pro was recently fixed by apple. So far, I'm very happy with the results but I have some questions that are bugging me....
First, Apple replaced the logic board. Does that mean the GPU in my new logic board will fail in exactly the same way as my old logic board? Did they put the same type of faulty logic board back in???
Second, they replaced the Crucial RAM I put in with their own stuff. My old RAM was 1333MHz. The stuff they put in is 16000MHz. I thought my system could only run 1333MHz RAM. Is the RAM actually running at 1600MHz???
Third, is there anyway for me to test my systems performance against other 2011 macbook pros? I'm interested to see if they under-clocked the GPU in the new logic board and also to see how the new RAM compares to my old RAM. I've tried looking up benchmarks but most of the ones I can find are from games that I don't have. Maybe some Heaven benchmark results would be helpful?
