Your most reasonable/least expensive route is to use some small
plastic or wood strips the same size as the track links and a bit of
green stuff or other two part epoxy putty. I don't seriously think
anyone will notice, much less mind, if you do even moderately well.
As for casting resin, I'd say it's a good bit more expense and trouble
than it's worth for one tiny piece. If you're dying to try your hand at
it, use some clay to make a mold, some non-stick cooking spray (PAM is
common here in the states), and a good two part epoxy like Devcon and
you can cast a one off piece. Since all you need is really a one sided
piece, you can simply press your bit into the clay to create the mold,
put on your mold release (non-stick spray), and pour the epoxy. Once
it's set, peel away the clay and clean off the part. Attach and paint
as needed. And the beauty of this method is that if you don't like the
initial results you can do another on the cheap. Just don't use to
much mold release spray as it'll make your casting distorted or perhaps
weaken the epoxy. I use the lightest of dusting.
Hope that helps,
Myrmidon

#1582. I think they call it Warhammer "40K" because that is how
much you are going to have to make per year in order to play.
