Question Repairing broken hinge on my laptop ?

Hi! I dropped my Lenovo X1 Yoga Gen 6 20XY Laptop, and since then, the right-side display hinge has made cracking noises, and when closing the laptop, the screen does not align anymore. There is no visible damage, though. Everything is still working, but I would like to repair it before serious issues arise.

All the repair places have quoted me around 1k€ for the repair as Lenovo only sells the whole display assembly and not separate hinges. However, I found the hinges for sale from third-party sellers: replacement hinges.

I have some experience with electronics repair, but there are no instructions for this replacement anywhere on the internet, and I don't want to go in blind. I would be incredibly thankful if anyone could help me with this issue!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

This might help you understand the hinge's mechanism on the laptop;

You might want to talk to the repair shop and let them know if they'd do the work for a fee if you purchased the hinges yourself? IMHO, you're paying for their experience as there's a high chance you're going to ruin the entire panel without the right tools = a longer bill to foot.
