I have a netgear WNDR2700 running DD-wrt as my primary router.

I have a ampedwireless repeater in my kitchen which picks up the signal and repeats it to the other side of the house.

I'm running powerline adapters from the ampedwireless repeater to an old netgear router in my barn. This system works fine to get internet 300 yards away :)

but.... the barn router auto sets itself to 10.0.0.xxx subnet, where my MAIN router is set to 192.168.1.xxx subnet.

I believe this means im behind a "double nat" ? anyways.

I set the local DHCP range for my Main router 192.168.1.100-200
and its ip is 192.168.1.1
repeater ip is 192.168.1.2
and Barn router is 192.168.1.3 with DHCP range 192.168.1.10-99

as soon as i disable the DHCP server on the Barn router, i can see it but when i connect it tries for 30 secs and quits. and then I can no longer access settings page and have to reset the damn thing.

The barn router is connected from lan port -> powerline->powerline-> lan port on wireless repeater.

any idea's? im stumped. Main issue is I'm having isses getting through ports in Barn router

Hi
So most of the setup is okay. You cannot have two routers giving out IP address on the same subnet in this manner.

Can you set the barn router to act as an access point?

Diagrams work a bit easier than reading the text, if you have time to draw it...

It does sound like double NAT. If you only need internet access, then that is OK. If you need to access "local" (192.168.x.y) hosts, then you need to convert the barn to an access point rather than a router. You didn't post what the model of the barn router was. Some of them are easy to toggle to AP mode, others not-so-much.

Router in barn is a netgear wnr2000. Not specific setting for AP mode but I changed subnet an disabled DHCP and nothing will connect to it.

I'm curious if the problem is from the powerline running from repeater instead of main router.

Your WNR2000 can run DD-WRT also. There is a very detailed procedure to setup an AP in DD-WRT.

Wow, not sure how I overlooked that..... I'll give it a try tonight.
