Replace a dead enthernet port

I was thinking...
I have a LGA775 motherboard and they went up in prices for new ones and i wanted to fix my fried ethernet port.
Is it replacable or is it permanent (in a sence it cant be removed[or you cant place a new one if its removed]) my motherbord is a - 945gcm-s LGA775, DDR2 ram

You can't fix them usually, just buy a cheap PCI or PCI express ethernet card, depending on what slots you have free.
