Replace amd with i5 4690k or i7 4790k?

I have amd 955 black edition and now I am thinking about upgrade. It is good idea to replace amd with i5 4690k or i7 4790k?
I use computer only to programming (visual studio, eclipse etc).
Is the difference will be worth the investment?

You do know you would have to change the mobo right? You cant install an Intel CPU on an AMD mobo

That upgrade would be a large increase in performance, but it is a large investment. (CPU, MOBO, and possibly new OS)

While the old Phenom IIs still have some life in them, the i5 and i7 are on completely different levels of performance.
Since you plan on doing programming, I would recommend the i7, and the i5 if it were simply for gaming.
