The Hitachi HTS542512K9SA00 2.5" 120Gb 5400rpm hard drive fitted to my Compaq Presario C700 has been discontinued, can anyone suggest a replacement. thank you

Solution
You can replace it with any notebook SATA II hard disk drive.
Personally, I would recommend WD Scorpio Black (for speed) or WD Scorpio Blue (for capacity, e.g. 1TB).
Better still replace it with an SSD (120GB or higher) for an extra boost to an aging processor.

Thanks for that, I'm more used to desktops than laptops and was not sure if the HDD was a custom fit for a particular make or model. I will go with your suggestion and obtain an SSD. Thanks again
