Replace HDD with SSD or SSD+HDD in optical drive

I'm thinking about upgrading my Asus N55sf (august 2011) with an SSD, it currently has a 750GB HDD. I currently have 3 options:

1. Replace the HDD with a 250GB SSD (probably the Samsung 840 EVO)
price: around 170 EUR
2. Replace the HDD with a 120GB SSD (again the Samsung) + put the HDD
in the optical drive with a HDD caddy
price: around 100 EUR for the SSD + 10 EUR for the HDD caddy
3. Replace the HDD with WD Black2 Dual Drive
price: 270 EUR

Option 3 is very unlikely so I'm torn between option 1 and 2. I mostly store my movies and series on an exernal HD so I use about 200-250GB at most.

If you use about 200 to 250GB, both one and two would leave you with not enough space. I would just get a larger SSD.

In option 2 I would put my 750GB HDD in the HDD caddy so I would have a total storage of 120+750=870GB

120GB just does not seem like much space at all. A larger SSD would give you all the benefits of an SSD. Faster everything. Using a HDD would relegate you to the slower HDD speeds and reaction times. Slower downloads too when downloading to the HDD as well as slower read & upload speeds off the HDD. Looking at the specs on the notebook, you probably have a real slow 5400RPM HDD and probably only sata2. Without sata3 it does not seem worth it to me to get a SSD in the first place.
