I'm currently using an IBM PS/2 model M Keyboard with a USB adapter. This works well, but having to map my Caps Lock key to the Windows key is a pain. I'd like to find a keyboard with the same feel, but wireless. Having volume control on it would be a bonus.

I've tried a couple Steelseries and Razer keyboards, but they just did not work well. Keys were too wobbly, or the travel wasn't as smooth as it should be. My typing was just not accurate on them.

I would be using this keyboard under Windows 11, Linux and Mac OS X through a KVM.

What keyboards would you suggest?

Could you state which keybaords you've tried? It's to avoid referring keyboards that are similar in nature.

Might want to also mention your budget, your location and your preferred site for purchase. You could look at a barebone hotswappable mechanical keyboard and perhaps mod it a little to get the typing feel you're looking for...?

This might be worth a read.

It's the pronounced curve in the middle of the keyboard, like an IBM Wheelwriter typewriter that you are missing:

While they lack wireless or volume, the 105-key New Model M

and 87-key Mini M

do have Windows keys and USB. They've been out for 4 years now.

Looks like some wag was annoyed enough about how mechanical switches bind a bit if not pressed directly downwards, that they made a group buy for a custom curved keyboard frame. There are off-the-shelf mechanical keyboards with a concave layout like the IBM, but this is done with angled keycaps which make the top and bottom rows feel noticeably different/worse.

Or you could just get used to a flat keyboard. I mean eventually you'd become accurate with one.

Thanks for the link... Quite helpful!

These aren't wireless, but I've tried the Ornata Chroma and Steelseries Apex 100 and Apex 3. I already have them so they were simple to test out.

My current go to wireless keyboard is a Cherry Stream. Nothing like the M, but needs a bit of force to press the keys. I'm not a gamer, so I don't want a keyboard with a light touch.

Like @BFG-9000 said, the curve of the keyboard does make a big difference. That might be hard to find.

I'm in Canada and hoping for around $100, but it really depends on how good it actually feels. I shop online at Amazon.ca and MemoryExpress.com but can go just about anywhere.

With what research I have done, I was looking at a Chronkey V6 Max or K10 Max with banana key switches, but I'm still looking around.

For wireless and quiet I suggest a Logitech MX keyboard:

https://www.logitech.com/en-us/shop/p/mx-keys-s.920-011406

It supports up to 3 computers so you might be able to eliminate the KVM.
Looks like a nice keyboard, I don't know how tactile it would feel though. I already have a low profile keyboard with the Cherry one I have. It's good, but still not as nice as the Model M.

I need to switch between four systems, sharing the keyboard, mouse, screen and webcam, so I need to keep the KVM.
