Replace my Geforce 8800 GT

Budget: $50-$150

I got recommendations for a build here back in January of 2008. We built three of these, one for my wife and one for me and my sister in law built one aswell.

My video hard has started doing weird stuff lately, so I need to replace it. It looks like it still may be under warranty, but I never registered so I guess I get to buy a new one.

I only use it to play World of Warcraft, so a recommendation for the same card or one slightly better would be appreciated.

ATI Radeon HD 5770 is usually just slightly over $150. I'd go with whichever one has a display port and is the cheapest at the date of purchase.

At the moment it would be the HIS model for $139.

Get GTX 260 or GTX 460 if you got another $50. ATI 5770 may not work for your motherboard since it only supports PCI-E x16. PCI 2.0 is fine to your motherboard but not ATI 5000 series which is PCI-E 2.1.

Anyone know for a fact that the 5770 wouldn't work with my motherboard? I ask because yanje03 says it may not work. I really don't have an extra $50 dollars. As it is, $150 is at the top of my budget.

I have yet to read about it not working but you can get one that is 2.0 if you want to be safe.

Anyone know for a fact that the 5770 wouldn't work with my motherboard? I ask because yanje03 says it may not work. I really don't have an extra $50 dollars. As it is, $150 is at the top of my budget.

I got a brand new 9800GTX+ for 75 bucks on sale at Worst Buy.

Nvidia has yet to release a new video card at the budget you have. This means you need to either buy a new AMD card, or buy a new Nvidia card that supports DX10 only. If the 5770 is to much, even the 5750 will be faster then your 8800GT. The 5750 has about the speed of the GTS250, which is the 9800GTX+ with a different name. On the bright side the 5750 will use less power then your 8800GT.
