a couple says ago the power supply went out on my computer. just had a chance to buy a new one for it and finally get the motherboard to power up but the LED's on it say the CPU is damaged or installed incorrectly but everything work fine prior to the power supply going out. is my only choice to buy a new cpu and hope that fixes it or could it be the motherboard?

Is your PSU generic?? If that's the case then thats the normal life expectancy of one. From my personal experience, my last generic psu just died and took the mobo and video card with it. Never again.

well when the old one went out nothing on the mobo would light up but saying it was on stand-by now the led's say that its powered on and the pce slot my video card is working but the 4 indicator leds are stuck red which the manual says it means that the processor is damaged or not installed properly

OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI 700W ATX12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply<-- was my old psu

You will get the same LED when the 8/4 pin CPU connection is either not connected properly or simply not "working".

If you were to remove the 8/4 pin completely and boot the computer you would likely get the exact same reaction from the motherboard LED.

is there anyway to tell if the pin isnt working without returning it for a new one and trying again?
