Looking for a card in the lower price range that will allow me to play 2014 PC games. How do I choose a card that will fit? Thanks for your help!

I wouldn't bother, you don't have enough RAM or a fast enough processor to run modern games very well, even if you upgraded the videocard.
You won't have a big enough power supply to run anything bigger than a 750 Ti.

Time for a new computer.
