Hello i have a P5K SE motherboard. I once wanted to flash to flash the bios but it failed so when i restarted the pc didnt boot up anymore it just goes on for a few sec and then shuts down again and than it goes on again etc etc. But i have bought a new Bios Chip and replaced it but i am still having the same issue. And the bios is seated correctly so i dont know what to do. I also tried with 1 memory stick but no success.

Hope you guys could help me out.

Thanks in advance.

Well, you could try using the onboard video, or an add-in card but probably won't make a difference. If it doesn't stay booted long enough to get into ezflash, or the display is black, then I don't know of anything else you can try, call a tech shop and ask if they are able to restore it 🙁

Some motherboards won't boot unless specific things are in place, such as rams in the right slots, making sure the CPU fan is on the right connector (or at least so I've read), but when your BIOS isn't working right, there's no other way to access it at home, that I know of, sorry 🙁

Could have used crashfree bios since this supports it. Would have saved you buying another chip.

Thats what this feature is for. In case the BIOS is corrupt

All you have to do is either use the cd it came with. Turn it on put the cd it'll flash the BIOS

Or get the latest BIOS extract turn it on plug the flash drive in

Altho if you use the cd, it depends WHAT BIOS is on it. Because it would have to be a BIOS that supports the CPU that you installed. If its not the right one it wont work. You would have to download a later BIOS

Um yes i can try to do that but still, it should work directly when replacing the old bios with the new one righr? And how does it flash the bios when it doesnt boot, i get no display nothing, it just turns on for a few seconds and goes of again. No beep nothing...

Well i extracted the rom file from the zip on a usb drive,, put in the PC turned it on,, but nothing happens just same loop on and off.. and i have put in a usb with light indicator so i can see it doesnt even read the USB !

But the thing i dont get is how software to flash your bios can brick your whole system?? I used the Asus tool to flash so they should not put a program online that doesnt work. And no i did not do anything wrong. The program just didnt do its job properly

Because thats what happens if it fails. It'll brick it if it goes wrong. Because the BIOS is like the brain of the computer. Without it you cant do anything

If the chip flash goes wrong the whole system is dead

When you extracted the BIOS update, DONT put it in a folder on the flash drive. If this is what you did. IT MUST be in the root of the flash drive, NOT in a folder

You have to rename it to P5KSE.ROM BEFORE you put it in a USB port. If you didnt do this

Since the latest BIOS is a beta get this one

http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5K_SE/P5K-SE-1104.zip extract it rename it to P5KSE.ROM

Just copy the ROM file to a flash drive (not its folder). Plug the flash drive into a USB port turn it on

And make sure the flash drive is formatted in FAT32

And if it flashes successfully you have to do this after

The new Marvell 6111 Option ROM must be used in conjunction with driver version V1.2.0.51 or later. Please make sure you update Marvell 6111 driver after the BIOS update.
Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx
Update Marvell 6111 Option ROM to version L69.
Fix sometimes the system may be unable to resume from S3 under WinXP 64.

Get this install it

Correct, If you can't get a POST, you can't do anything with it. I'm guessing your DVD Drive has no power either, so you can't boot from a disc. You are right , though, replacing the BIOS chip, would have fixed any issues with the BIOS you had, so the problem is with your motherboard I'm afraid 🙁 I assume there is a 'sleep' light on the motherboard that is lighting up though...I tell you it is entirely possible that the board won't boot, if the power supply has an issue, I've seen that a few times, if you can as a last ditch effort, try a new power supply.
