Basically what the title says. Fans and the 1 light I have are all on, but there's no monitor signal, and I can't figure out why the power button opens but can't close the pc.

I got rid of my old i5 3470, standard ASRock mobo, and Corsair RAM, and bought semi-new replacements.

My main suspects are:

1) ASRock AB350M-HDV, didn't do anything too special to it, apart from push different things on it quite hard, but it was pre-owned a little so who knows, also commonly at fault in these cases from what I've gathered.

2) PSU that I have had for close to 2 years, a Seasonic S12II-520 Bronze (520W), and although it seems fine, sometimes at fault .

I also have two semi old HDD's (one with Windows 10) and a 1060, but I think they're fine.

So far I checked and rechecked every cable coming out of the mobo, tried to restart the cMOS with the jumper (didn't try the battery though). And there's no beep code coming from my speaker.

Thanks for reading hope someone knows how to fix this mess.

I did just now, tested hdmi and displayport for my gpu, and hdmi on mobo. Still nothing. It has to be something more, since not only is there no display, the power button won't shut down the pc.

Oh nvm i read the question fully lol. Not sure why you thought it was a good idea to buy a pre-owned board but ya know. Its clearly your board, and if the board doesnt post, then its burned up, its scrap.

A friend gave me a <MOD EDIT: LANGUAGE> up board before and it did the same thing, you have to pull the cord to turn it off. His psu arked and shorted the board (msi 970 gaming). I tried to jump it and everything but never worked, it wouldn't even read the gpu or anything lol.

Well he probably shorted the board and jebaited you lol. One thing I would never buy used would be a board for that exact reason lol ( if your board goes bad when in use, it shorts your gpu and cpu)

No, if it never posted in the first place, then the board is already fried (your parts are good). If you were playing a game for instance and your board fried right then and there, then it would fry all the components connected to it hence, don't buy a used board lmao.

Lets slow this train down there buddy. First off please watch your language. Secondly, while a motherboard failure CAN damage other components, its actually pretty unlikely unless it gets hit by lightning or something like that. PSU failure on the other hand can do damage.

OP Lets start over here. So your problem is that the system will not shut down? Or will not Boot now?

Your PSU is high quality, highly unlikely to be your problem.

Again, can you not post this stuff, its just straight up wrong.

Im not OP lol, i was saying this exact situation happened to me when a friend gave me his fried board so i could try to get it to work. All the capacitors look fine and everything but it wouldnt shut off nor would it post. Everything would spin up where it would seem that its working lol.

Hey Rogue Leader, thanks for replying! My problem is that the PC boots/starts up and runs with fans and everything, but it doesn't post, and the power button won't shut it down, I have to shut down the PSU.

OK, theres many things that could be wrong. SkyNetRising posted this link

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems

Which is where you should start. Breadboarding the system at the minimum (meaning no drives, 1 stick of ram, and the GPU and monitor only connected) is where you will need to go probably, and then start adding parts back.

Stop listening to kestux999, there is no way for him to know or be sure that your motherboard has failed. Of course its a possibility, but theres 100 things to try first.
