I have been trying to get my new build to work for a while now and things keep going wrong. I initially replaced the PSU because it was faulty and got a working one. When I attempted to breadbox that build it gave me 5 beeps, which according to the beep codes means a CPU error. I replaced the mobo (some of the pins were bent to the point where I couldn't straighten them) and I still got the same code with the new mobo. So I sent the CPU back and got a new one and it is still giving me the 5 beep codes.
SPECS:
CPU: Intel Core i5-8400
Mobo: Gigabyte H310M A
RAM: Patriot DDR4 8gb (x2) 2400 MHz
PSU: Corsair CX 550W 80+
GPU: EVGA GTX 1070 SC
Cooler: Cooler Master Masterliquid Lite 240
Case: Fractal Design Meshify C
Any help much appreciated!

"For anyone else coming to this thread with this issue, this MB has a RAM module with locks on only one side. If you put the RAM in how you usually would and just lock the one side into place it won't register the RAM and will give you this error. You'll need to push the non-locking side of the RAM down first with some force, and THEN place the other side in and lock it into place.
This isn't noted anywhere in the manual, or anywhere online, but placing the ram in how you normally would results in one side raising up too high."

Thanks for the quick reply! The mobo actually does have RAM locks on either side but nevertheless I still tried locking it from one side first but I still got the 5 beeps.

Yes. It's the very first thing I looked up when it wouldn't POST. I haven't even put the mobo in the case. I've been breadboxing on a piece of cardboard. I didn't have a mobo speaker so I got hands on one and from then on I've been trying anything that might help.
