Replaced motherboard won't turn on the full system

Hello.

My desktop PC stopped working a few weeks ago and I found it was the motherboard at fault (the computer would not turn on and the power supply was working to turn on an older computer). Since it was still under warranty, I sent it back to the manufacturer and I just received a replacement.

Now, I can't seem to get the system to power up in the original configuration. The lights turn on for a second when I press the power button but then it stops. If I unplug the first of the two 8-pin power cables for the video card, then the system runs fine, with the motherboard's video card. The PCIe video card lights up and runs one of the two fans but there is no video signal (again, only 1 of the two 8-pins are connected).

Now I wonder if it's the power supply, or the video card or it's the replacement motherboard?

The system is as follows:
ASRock H97 Anniversary
OCZ 700W power supply
MSI GeForce GTX 980

I've been trying to figure this out for some time now and any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
