Replaced RAM and now the screen is not coming on

I bought new Ram that is compatible with my computer and once I put in the new RAM the computer screen does not come on. But if I put back in the old Ram it does.

Probably just dirty ram, or the slot. Try re-positioning it

I have reset the cmos and that still has not solved the issue. The old RAM was hynix the new Ram is Samsung. The old RAM was 256mb sticks (yes old) and the new RAM is 4-1gb sticks.

I have blown out the slots multiple times and also the RAM

And the model of the mobo? sound like it an old one that might not support 1GB ram

It is the motherboard that came with the Gateway E-2500S

I was able to get it working. I was removing the battery instead of jumping the cmos. Once I jumped the cmos it came to live.
