Hi all
I recently swapped out my RAM since I returned my last two sticks I bought two years ago and got full store credit and put it towards the purchase of a new GPU and got what I figured should be faster RAM and for much less since DDR4 is out now. I used to have 2x8gb Crucial Ballistix 1866 DDR3 9CL and now I switched to 2x8gb Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400 11CL DDR3. I know the latency is higher but the speeds should balance that out to be faster no? I must also mention I did upgrade the GPU from a GTX 960 to the 1060 as well and update to the latest drivers. Anyway the rest of my rig is as follows;
MSi z97 gaming 5 mobo
Intel i7 4790k 4.0ghz
MSi Gtx1060 6gb
Sandisc 128gb SSD
Sea gate 1tb hdd
Windows 10
With the older ram my boot times seemed a decent amount faster, not a whole lot but faster none the less. Also loading DX mankind divided is also slower. My OS is booting from the SSD but my games are off the hdd. What gives? I went into bios and turned XMP on and ram speed is on auto at 2400mhz in dual channel. What should I do? I knew if the ram speeds increased it would be barely noticeable but it shouldn't be slower right?
