Originally had a AMD HD6950 2GB PCIe in a Alienware Aurora R3 (Sep.2011). A little over a year ago I replaced it with a NVidia GTX970 4GB. Everything worked fine. I stored my 6950. I bought another computer for gaming about 6 months ago and decided I would like to put the 970 in that one. The R3 I delegated to the wife for 'net surfing. I installed the 6950 back into the R3. Upon boot I received 5 beeps (AMI BIOS A06). Quit booting and went to black screen after logo. Computer basically froze. Powered off and checked everything. All seem to be seated and in place. Tried again. Same results. Replaced the 6950 with the 970 and all worked. No Nvidia drivers or AMD drivers installed on computer. Computer recognized 970 in Windows 7 64 bit and reinstalled driver. Bad 6950 I guessed. Ordered another HD6950 off e-bay. Disabled and removed NVidia drivers. Shut down. Installed "new" HD6950 and it is doing the same thing as before. I put the 970 back in and it works like a charm. Anyone have any suggestion? Thank you.

Solution
Try reinstalling the HD6950, and then with the power unplugged from the PSU or the wall, remove the cmos battery for about three minutes. Press the power button for about thirty seconds during that time. Reinstall the CMOS battery in the motherboard, reconnect power, and see if it will POST.
