Replacement 19" Widescreen LCD

I have the option to return my monitor which was damaged on arrival(out of policy range) for an 85% partial refund. That means I get $156.50 back.

I was also wondering what is more important concerning monitors; contrast ratio or response time? If you look at the viewsonic, it has a higher response time than my original(5 ms vs. 8 ms) and a higher contrast ratio(700:1 vs. 500:1) whereas the samsung 941bw has the same contrast ratio as the acer al1916w but half the response time(4 ms vs. 8 ms).

personaly i think its a combo of response time & contrast ratio but more-so max resolution as well. 1920x1200 if you can, but in a lower price range lcds about 1600x1050.

But the viewsonic is the best deal there, right? I mean in my range, I can only find 1440 x 900, and it has better response time and contrast ratio than my old one AND my refund is worth more than its total price. Seems like a good deal to me.

AOC makes some good LCDs that are HD 1080i compliant.
