I am having trouble finding a GAG-N4A replacement battery from a reputable source. The very few I see are on two shady looking eBay resellers. I ordered from one, then canceled (I hope) when the post-order delivery date was, "should be by June 29." It strikes me as strange for a battery for a Gigabyte laptop to be so rare, but maybe that's normal in Batteryland.

I've seen many videos on successfully running different laptops without a battery and several how some are designed not to boot without a battery. None of them reference my Aorus 15G XC, so there's only one way to find out, apparently.

If I hook up power to this laptop in an attempt to boot without a battery, whether it boots or not, do I risk damaging the laptop and possibly bricking it?

A second question of lesser importance is will performance suffer for some reason if I am able to operate without a battery?

Replacement parts shouldn't be found outside of retail outlets, due to some form of agreement under NDA, is why the battery is probably rare to find.

You could contact Gigabyte directly and see if they can send a genuine part/replacement battery.

No, the laptop will essential function as a desktop, cut power and the laptop is dead(as in it shuts down). You can lose data that way.

A laptop is meant for portability, while a desktop usually isn't portable. At that point I might ask myself why I have a laptop if I'm running it like a desktop.

Fair point, I feel like an idiot for buying it now. I needed portability for work, but wanted something better than the junk the County wanted to give me for down time.

Problems arose when I updated a game that suddenly killed my power cable then promptly drained the battery. In order to get the power cable functioning I have to switch physical outlets on the power strip!? Makes me wonder if some sort of protection scheme is kicking in.

No other game or app does that and no one seems to know why its happening, so in a desperate attempt to cover bases I sought a new battery. Now I'm wondering if I never get a battery, and that's the actual problem, if I can salvage it as desktop in the meantime?
