Hello all,
I have come to the conclusion that I need to replace my bios chip, after a disastrous Bios flash. I've tried re-flashing, manufacturers recovery method and Phoenix crisis recovery, none worked.
So last step before the mobo goes is a replacement Bios chip.
I know exactly which one I need and a company that can supply it pre-programmed.
I have not done this before so have a couple of Q's
1. Should I leave CMOS batt in place while installing?
2. Should I disconnect DVD, HD etc on first power up?
3. Do I need to roll back all hardware upgrades I've made CPU, HD graphics...to original configuration?
Any information, advice or guidance would be appreciated.

Hi, The CMOS battery is providing power to the CMOS chip and not the BIOS.
For BIOS is enough to power off the power supply (disconnect it from the motherboard), although a hot swap can be done also without issues.
After swapping the chips, just start the board.
What motherboard using? Is the BIOS chip on socket?

Thanks for quick response,
Fujitsu D2560-A3

Seems like some of the bios are still functioning. When I take out all the ram I get beep codes to inform me. When I put One block back in I get 2 short beeps. There is no reference to this code for Phoenix bios. The only beep code that matches is AMI. Very confused.

No. I installed a new Graphics card, to replace the onboard. It was not detected so I did a bios default reset, then was going to flash to find best suitable for card. Unfortunately my wife unplugged my extension so she could vaccume. Result in nonm-booting machine.

Some boards have a BIOS recovery feature (saving the BIOS file on a floppy and restarting, or inserting the motherboard's DVD). Not sure with yours. Check the manual if there's something available.
If not, maybe it's time for an upgrade.

Yes. I tried Fujitsus recovery and no good. Contacted them, even less than useless. I will try a chip replacement. Thanks for the input
