Hello,

I recently had a CPU failure and need to get a new one. The previous CPU was more than 2 years old:

Intel® Core™ i7-6850K Processor (15M Cache, up to 3.80 GH)

I can get it for about 250 USD on Amazon new.

My question is since it’s been 2.5 years should I buy something else - i.e. is there a better, newer processor out there you would recommend that is near the same price point. Or is there a new one just as good that is cheaper.

I just use the PC for games and it is still plenty fast.

Below is my system configuration:

Corsair 760t Graphite Case
Intel® Core™ i7-6850K Processor (15M Cache, up to 3.80 GH (dead)
Corsair Dominator Platinum 64GB DDR4 @ 3200 MHZ 4x16
ASUS Rog Rampage Edition 10
Samsung 960 Pro 1TB M.2
EVGA SuperNOVA 1200 P2
Windows 10
2xNvidia Titan X Pascal 12GB

your chip should still be covered in warranty.

if you still plan to upgrade i would suggest you move to AMD, may be you could use those extra threads and cores which AMD offers. you have two titans you not playing games on that thing :ROFLMAO:.
