As the topic should tell you, I am looking to (finally) replace my old GPU with something newer. I don't play many newer games and don't really care about max graphic settings but it was still starting to feel too slow.

CPU is Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz (I know, bottlenecks...), power supply is generic 500W, mobo is Intel DG33BU and it's got 2 GB of ram (will probably update as well).

Any suggestions?

Can't really say about budget (not in US) but maybe equivalent of 150$ in US prices. Resolution is 1680x1050 but I often slip down to 1440x900 for gaming.

Knowing what country you are in would help us price parts better. Right now the 650ti is only $5 more than the 7770 in the U.S., so the 650ti wins here.

You're right in thinking you'll need more RAM. You'll want to get at least 4gb in the system. Hopefully your machine uses DDR2 (which is expensive enough), not RDRAM.

$110 MSI 650ti

and assuming you have 2x1gb sticks in your machine right now,
$27.80 Crucial 2x1gb DDR2 800mhz

good luck!

That was the first sentence in my post >.<. I don't know what you think you're correcting here.

The OP also said he thinks he has the equivalent of $150, so you'll forgive me for working with the information we currently have while asking for more specifics.

Allright, my country is Finland. I went with dollar=euro because that's how these things are generally priced, taxes and all.

Side note: A quick search shows that 650ti goes for ~20-30 € more than HD 7770, though still within the budget.
