Hi,

I need to replace a Corsair H80i that has died after 8 years of service. This is in a fairly old build. But I think it still has some life in it.
  • Cooler Master ATCS 840 - ATX full tower
  • ASUS P6X58D Premium 1366 ATX motherboard
  • Intel i7 920 D0
  • CORSAIR DOMINATOR CMD12GX3M6A1600C8 x 2 (all memory slots are full)
  • FX HD-585A-ZNBC Radeon HD 5850 1GB Black Edition
My budget is ~$200.00. I plan on replacing some noisy fans at the same time.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Van

This PC has always been water cooled. It started with a Corsair Hydro H50 in 2010. In 2015, it was upgraded to a Hydro H80i. That being said, I'm open to any suggestions. I was going to go with another Corsair water cooling solution (the devil you know). But nothing is available short of paying obscene amounts of money.

Well, the H50 typically performed worse than air coolers during its time, and the H80i barely did any better.
I personally would invest in a moderately priced air cooler and save your money for a potential upgrade in the future. No need to spend the money to water cool that system, especially given its age.

No one seems to make a thick 120mm AIO anymore. And given the cost of standard 120mm radiators, they are really overpriced.

You have room for a 240mm, that would be the way to go. If not, get a decent sized air cooler.

No real limits with that chassis, just needs to be LGA1366 compatible.

Haven't seen the Phanteks in a while, pretty low price too.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'm leaning toward the Noctua NH-D15. I need to make sure it will fit with all of the memory slots on the MB full. If not, I'll consider the other suggestions.
