I have a possible budget cap of $250, and would much prefer to gain in terms of performance. I'm a bit behind on GPUs these days as it is.

So, what would be an ideal replacement for my 660 SLI configuration?

Post: I MIGHT be able to weasel $300.

The 970 is the best option if you can swing for $300-$330. It's the go to GPU for 1080p gaming @ high to ultra settings @ 60 fps.

My friend had dual 660ti's and replace them with a single EVGA 970. It was a night a day difference. With the 660's he struggled to run high settings @ 1080p but once he upgraded to the 970, he was enjoying 1080p at max settings. He ended up getting a second one later to play @ 1440p. They are good cards :)

This will work with your existing hardware, and you will see a big difference upgrading to the GTX 960 over the dual 660's you have now.

The 960 can play 1080p games @ 60fps @ high settings all day long
