Replacement for GV-R928XOC-3GD (rev. 2.0) alternatives

Hi Guys,

Previously my GV-R928XOC-3GD (rev. 2.0) - r9 280x rev 2.0 got broken so I've RMA it to Gigabyte. After several months of waiting they've decided to replace it but they don't have the same model so they offered me GV-R929WF3-4GD 1.0 - r9 290 1.0 should I accept it? I know r9 290 is faster(not completely sure) but I've been reading a lot of negative reviews(blackscreen issues)http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2471771/gigabyte-290-windforce-crash-black-screen.html to r9 290 particularly the Gigabyte brand.

What do you guys think? Thank you

There isn't an alternate option anyways since you already sent it to RMA... Accept the 290 and cross your fingers...

I never owned a 290 before so I can't comment on the black screen. I do however know that it usually runs quite hot compared to other cards.

The blackscreens are caused by radeon settings not by the card and yes accept the 290 in a heartbeat.Just roll back your driver to pre crimson and ull be fine till they fix it a new one is coming at the end of february

Thank you. Is r9 290 revision 1.0 is faster than r9 280x OC revision 2.0?

Yes and it has a tripple fan design make sure it fits in your case that's the version they're giving you.Make sure your psu can handle it as well it draws quite a lot more power than the 280x.
