Hi there,

it looks like my motherboard is down. There's no signal from my monitor and my USB slots (for keyboard and mouse) aren't working either. My hard drive seems to be running fine and my fan is running smoothly.

I have an HP 550-029.

I can't seem to find this model anywhere and my warranty has expired. Is there a motherboard that could be used as an alternative? Let me know.

Any microATX motherboard with an LGA1150 socket should work.

A non-HP motherboard could work, but your OS installation probably won't. If it was an HP installed OS, it is probably expecting an HP motherboard and may not boot without one.
