Replacement HDD for Dell Inspiron One 2305 not tall enough

I'm a bit confused when you say not tall enough. You've got the mounting holes right there. Or is the problem that when it is screwed down that the connectors won't go in?

For that all you need are standard washers and longer screws.

I would trust tape for an SSD, not so much a spinning drive.

I should have explained better. As you can see in the linked pictures, there is an opening in the caddy for the cables. The connectors on the drive are not high enough to reach the opening. And the screws are not long enough to reach the drive. Although I suppose from what you're saying, I could screw in the drive first.

So after doing some looking around, I realized that I could use kneadable erasers underneath the drive to prop it up. That should get it to fit perfectly and provide shock absorption.

The computer is my parents', and we're all on a budget. I plan to go the M.2 route for my CG work when I can afford it, but a spinning drive is all that they need.
