Replacement motherboard/cpu combo

Hello,
recently my asus m2n sli nvidia nforce 560 motherboard began experiencing problems just as the warranty expired. it runs vista, amd x2 6400 and has a evga geforce 9600gt 512 mb graphics card. i want to replace with comparable mb/cpu, amd version, windows 7. will this graphics card handle an upgrade or will i need to upgrade that as well? if so, what would be an acceptable mb/cpu combo. pretty much through with asus as this is 2nd mb that failed to last. thanks

whats your budget?

you can buy dual core intel CPU for pretty cheap now that would be a vast improvement over an x2 6400 or you could potentially buy a phenom x2, x3 or x4 on the cheap and OC it.

it all depends what your budget and requirements are and what you are comfortable with

You will have to add ram to your list since new stuff is DDR3!
