Hi guys I want to finally replace my Radeon 6990,the problem is that I can not make up my mind what would be the best choice :)

I was thinking Gtx 780, but in few days there should be new 780Ti,then I was thinking about buying it with non-reference cooling-which means another weeks of waiting.
Then according to wikipedia 8xxx series should be out in Q1 2014.

I need gpu mostly for gaming, here is rest of my rig just in case that info is needed.
I7 950 oc to 3.8Ghz
Asus P6t Deluxe V2
Kingston SSD 120GB
Radeon 6990
12GB RAM Kingston HyperX (2000Mhz)

In general most of games seems to be "ok" with my 6990 but I would like to run them on max details in 1920x1080.

Thx for info :)

There won`t be a HD 8xxx series because the new GPU`s came out with r7 and r9 2xx. I would not upgrade to a gtx 780 for a little performance boost unless you want to throw the money out of the window.

The 8xxx series cards are OEM only (and the low-mid end cards have been out in prebuilt desktop pc's), you should know about the R series cards from AMD that launched last month. I suggest for gaming at 1920x1080 something as basic as a 770 or r9 280x. If you game at 120/144Hz I would suggest getting the 780, or the 780ti if the performance increase is what you really need for some reason. the R9 290X is better suited for higher resolution gaming.

Never get stock coolers, Allways get aftermarket (unless you're going to watercool your gpu's)

summary in order or preference:
60Hz get: GTX 770 or R9 280X
120/144Hz get: GTX 780ti/780
5760x1080p 60Hz get: R9 290x/780ti/780
5760x1080p 120/144Hz get: Crossfire R9 290X/SLI GTX 780ti/780

Hope I am of much help,

Thanks for info Gecko and StarBG when I ment 8xxx series I was talking about nvidia and Maxwell technology. My mistake tho-I should have said 8xx.
Anyways is it even worth waiting for Maxwell ?

It's not worth it waiting, Bacause by the time Maxwell launches either AMD or Nvidia will think up a new card that they'll be launching in the next quarter of that year. so basically you'll be waiting for ever.

At max wait till end november/begin december for all the aftermarket coolers to hit.

Yah I know that waiting for new technology usually means waiting forever :) but in this case 8xx series from nvdia should be out on the market quite soon and maxwell is new technology-thats why I was thinking that it might be worth to wait in that situation

yeah okay the 14nm architecture stuff i know, but still i'd say: go for 780/780ti

Thanks, that was actually very interesting benchmark.Obviously 780 is better than mine 6990 but not as much as I thought.
Now I will definitely wait untill 780Ti or even 790 to come out.
