Replacement power supply

Hi All,

I am trying to sort out a Packard Bell PC for a friend and I think it needs a new power supply, basically it powers up for a few minutes and then shuts down.

I had a few spares kicking around and thought one of those would do but none of them fit on the motherboard, the main power to the motherboard on the original is a lot wider than that on the other power supplies.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-8I915PM and the existing power supply is a FSP315-60PNA-E (PF).

I need a replacement power supply but I do not want to have to spend much, all the PC is used for is a file store in a workshop so it is never touched or rebooted.

Can anyone help?

There are 20 pin to 24 pin ATX power supply adapters. If you can manage to grab one of those, you should be able to use one of your spare PSUs.

Also, what you describe sounds a lot like overheating to me, though PSUs can cause the same issue sometimes.

+1 to willard may be overheating

check the cpu fan is spinning and that the heatsinks not clogged up with dust before replacing the psu
