Hello everyone,

I am in need of a replacement to my Asus RT-N66R. Essentially after firmware updates and flashing to DD-WRT, I cannot get the router to keep its wireless signals up for more than a couple of days without a reboot. The wired portion of the unit works just fine. We have three (3) desktops wired plus a bevy of gaming consoles and switches are the house to run other electronics. We also have three (3) smartphones, (2) tablets, (2) rokus and a smart tv that are all on the wireless. Finally our ADT home security is run through the network as well. I am assuming at this point I will be venturing into an AC unit, but am looking for one that can handle all the devices plus have good wireless range. Maybe something with a bit better range than the N66R. I would like to stay around the $150 or less price point (less being better), but I will deal with it if it comes to that. I have looked at some the higher end Linksys models (specifically their re-certified ones because their pricing is obtainable) but have looked at like the Netgear AC1750 (R6400 I believe) and other similar AC1750's from Linksys and Asus that fit the budget. With that, the reviews I have read seem to indicate they all have some flaw that may or may not be a big deal. Since I am not a networking guru, I could use a little assistance.

Any help would be great

Thanks

I really like my ASUS RT-AC68U. I noticied an immediate range improvement over my old N router (and I even had high gain antennas on it).

You can get the normal AC68U for around your price range, but another option would be to get the TM-AC1900 for only $81. This is a rebranded AC68U with the exact same hardware for almost half. If you are savy enough to use putty and load alternative firmware you can even remove the special t-mobile firmware to put the original asus firmware on there and from there can load asus merlin (which I like better then dd-wrt and tomato).
