replacing 1080 gpu cooler

i need to replace my msi gtx 1080 duke cooling fans/plastic cover and i would like to replace it with the msi lightning z rgb cooler which i found a cheap one on ebay and like the look of it. do you think this would be possible?

No, the cards use unique PCBs, so you cant do a straight cooler/heatsink swap.

I have the same card and I don't see what you're looking to do as feasible given the PCB itself and the differences in the cooler's design.

as for MSI cooler , well if you have the right modding tools and have experience , you can make it fit , and remember zip ties , they are wonderful in modding.

PCB may be different and screw holes as well. There are aftermarket 3rd party coolers that might work if specs line up.
