Hey guys,
I am replacing a dead HDD. I'm replacing it with another HDD like it. Is there anything that I need to be weary about when doing it? I thought some motherboard latch on to that HDD and it's not fun having to put an new one in.

I am doing this for someone. Their PC is a DELL DS5? Or something like that? I can't exactly remember.

I've replaced a HDD for a HP and I had to edit (or run a script, i can't remember) to basically allow that HDD to be replaced by the new one because HP has this thing where it latches to things? I'm hoping to not have to go through that with this replacement.

thanks!

If the owner is willing to reinstall Win and all his apps, just swap the drives and run the Win install pgm.
If not, hope he made a disk image or some other form of backup.

The dead HDD did. The new HDD does not. Plan on putting Win10 on it. The dead one had Win 7 on it.
