Replacing cpu and mb

Hi. I've got a build with an fx-6300 and an msi 970a-g43 that i gotta replace cause they're both broken. Any suggestions? I was happy enough with the 6300, but i'd really like to change mb. Budget around 200€.

A retailer offered to replace them for a new fx 6300 and a gigabyte n68c-gs fx for 220€. How much of a ripoff is the offer?

Getting an fx series nowadays is just really bad value for the money. Even the cheapest cpu's out there now beat the fx 6300.
If you can move to a new platform. 220 for a board + fx 6300 is way to much for what the fx 6300 can only do.

I agree. I just answered off the point he made about sticking with the FX-6300.

But yes, I agree. It is a very outdated platform and would be better to get a newer CPU + mobo.

I'd like to move to an intel/ddr4 set, but i'd have to replace ram too (while gpu shouldn't be a problem, gfx 960).
I'm just afraid i'd go too much over budget or have to sattle for lower performance to keep the budget but take more parts.

Well- what tasks are you exactly doing on your PC?

This will help us better determine the best CPU for you.

Mostly gaming with the occasional streaming. Main game is wow, which requires a surprising amount of horsepower to not stutter in raids. Other than that the heaviest games i played are witcher 3 (which, performance wise, is... ok) and ff15 (way worse, gave up on it after a while cause it was too choppy). Oh, and i guess the occasional modded minecraft.

Yep. I take back all I said.

If your gaming (and playing those games), definately consider investing in an 8th gen i7 CPU and a Z370 compatible motherboard, with DDR4 memory.

1 you need faster ram ryzen performs better the faster the ram
2 the 2200g is not supported without a bios update on b320 boards
3 I recommend you get at least a b350 board since the b320's lack a fair amount of features and you can get really good b350 boards with updated bios for about 65$

If you want 100% guaranteed compatibility you can always get a ryzen 1200.
