Question Replacing HDD ?

Thank you both for your replies. That's great. As I understand it, the main question is to make sure they fit in the unit.
As you realise, I'm a novice on this. For example, there's one Toshiba (ABA) on sale with the additional details.......3.5 SAT 111 6 Gbs. What does this mean?
Grateful for your help.

SATA 3.5" HDDs are all same size and will fit in any PC that has space for it.
3.5 SAT 111 6 Gbs means it's a 3.5" wide. SATAIII (3) with maximum 6Gbps (gigabyte per second) transfer speed.
What PC is it for ? If it has SATA2 or 3 connection you could get an SATA SSD instead an get much higher speeds which is specially beneficial if it's OS drive,

Mod Edit:

Thank You.
It's for a Humax FVP-5000T Freeview Box which is malfunctioning. I thought I'd try a hard drive change before I bought a new box. I have taken the existing drive out but the spacing is quite exact.
Thank you,
Dorabella
