Hi community, I am currently thinking of upgrading my motherboard and CPU but am unsure if my other hardware will also need to go
Motherboard: AS ROck N68c-s UCC
CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.0GHz
Graphics-card: GeForce GT210silent (upgrade is coming)
RAM: 8gb DDR3 1600MHz 240Pin PC3 12800
Hard disk: SATAII Hitachi 500gb and a SATAII Samsung 1TB
OS: Windows Pro 10

I was looking at older processors AMD1055t or possibly trying to run a 125watt processor as it is an AM3 socket but heard this can be sketchy.

Solution
Your motherboard does not support 125 watt CPU's:

It might boot a 125watt CPU, but you should expect problems when running under full load.

But seeing the benefit over your current CPU would not be much, I would opt for a full CPU/motherboard upgrade. You might even want new ram, but this depends on the speed of your old ram and how much your budget is, also, what GPU are you getting and at what resolution are you planning to run.
