Currently, I am running a 940 BE, on a Biostar motherboard, with a 500gb 7200rpm WD HDD. However, I'm rebuilding most of my system, installing a 250GB 840 evo SSD, Extreme4 z87 motherboard, 8gb Gskill Ripjaw DDR3 1866 and an i-5 4670k (haven't purchased MoBo and processor yet, was looking at microcenter bundles). Currently running Windows XP.

Basically, I'm going to install the new components and load a copy of Windows 7 pro I got through school onto the SSD. There is not a terribly large amount of data I want to save from the 500GB HDD, mainly just some music and a few key files. Main question: Once I've installed Win7 on the SSD, will I be able to access my data on the HDD? Or will I need an external enclosure? Recommendations to make this a smooth transition?

The best deals you will get will be those micro center bundles for sure. I'd definitely stay with that.

You will be able to access the data on the spare HDD as long as you don't format the drive and you leave it be you will be able to access it. However that being said make sure you set the boot drive to SSD.
