Replacing my DVD drive in my laptop

I have an Asus K50id and the drive is not working since eons ago... How can I tell which drive I can use to replace it? I cant find the exact model anywhere..

Take the DVD drive out of the laptop and measure it - it'll either be 7.5 or 12.5 mm in height, buy the according SATA DVD drive from your retailer of choice and simply slot it in where the old one went - due to the standards in computers it will work fine (since all modern laptops use the same DVD connections)
