Replacing prebuilt CPU?

Case: ASUS G11CD
Gpu: GTX 970 4GB
Cpu: i5 6400 2.7 GHz
Mobo: H110-1(exclusively made for prebuilt)
Psu: Delta 500watts.
My mobo has the LGA1151 socket and I just want to upgrade the cpu so any suggestions?

It usually works to just switch the CPU but I've seen prebuilt systems that actually limit what CPU can go in the system.

Best you can do is search the internet for other owners and if they managed to upgrade to any specific CPUs.

There should be a model number on that motherboard that should allow you to look up what other CPU's can be placed into that socket for that particular motherboard.

If you eventually replace that GPU I'd highly recommend replacing that PSU with a better quality unit.

your cpu isn't outdated or weak , it's a good cpu for your specification.

This cpu doesn't do so well in Battlefield 1 and my budget is 400$. I will have to change it someday anyways.

if you go with i5 even kabylake one's you're not gonna see much diffrence and it's tricky to go with i7 with mobo and psu output wattage of yours.
it's better you use it for a while and get higher budget to buy a new rig in far future ( i would do that)

What should I worry about? List everything I should know about upgrading a CPU.

make sure the motherboard support the cpu.

Nothing else?

1) Make sure whatever board you have will support the new CPU (chipset, overclockability, I/O)
2) Make sure that you will not use all of the PCI-e lanes on the CPU (do you have SLI? RAID?)
3) Make sure that your cooler is sufficient for the new CPU, and that it will fit onto it.
4) Make sure that it is a necessary upgrade for your workload. Do you need all the cores, cache, and threads?

If you want better info, tell us what your current system spec are and your budget for a new cpu

Will using all the PCIE slots be a bad thing for cpu upgrades? And I also don't care about overclocking.

Match CPU socket type with motherboard socket type, also consider maximum supported ram speeds.
Consider the power consumption of the new CPU and be sure that your current or intended PSU can manage the overall system draw at max usage scenarios.
Consider which platform you are upgrading to/on and how long the socket type will be relevent, would it be better value to change to the latest socket type for further upgrading longevity.
If you are buying strictly for gaming, avoid i7 or ryzen 7 Cpu's as almost identical results can be yielded in gaming with the cheaper ryzen 5 and i5 cpus, money which would be better spent on a stronger GPU.
Consider if the new CPU comes with a cooler, or if you will need to provide your own upon installation.

I have the H110-1 mini itx motherboard but this one is exclusive to the ASUS G11CD prebuilt.

the problem is your board it is possible your board doesn't support new cpu.

Then do you know what it supports?
